(IN SITU) THE WONDER OF STORIES
As the gong is sounded, an ancient Emperor of China appears, his eyes held by what he has just read about the exquisite song of the Nightingale... Sit back, relax and enjoy the performance... We will seek to enter another world and mine the treasures of this old story and explore the Nightingale as a symbol of Christ. The retreat will offer space to explore, from Christian perspectives, how stories can be guides to deeper self-awareness, freedom and wholeness that God offers us. We will also reflect on the famous tales of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

THE HEALING OF LEGION | Mark 5: 1-20
(ONLINE) The Healing of Legion | (Mark 5: 1-20)
In Mark’s Gospel emerges an incredible text. It’s a glimpse of a possessed man isolated, harming himself, violent, and living among the haunting landscape of tombs; the Greek word for ‘tomb’ can also mean ‘memory’. Modern understandings of this character called ‘Legion’ would probably see him as suffering from PTSD.
Then the brave, discerning, healer Christ crosses the sea to face the man’s belligerent demons… and later, the villagers are amazed at the man’s transformation. This encounter of such hope will provide a potent space in which to invite Christ into our chaos, the calm, knowing and healing Christ who sits down beside us, listens and offers us freedom.
Wednesday 10th December 7-9.30pm

(ONLINE) GOING DEEPER WITH THE MYSTIC JOHN OF THE CROSS
GOING DEEPER WITH JOHN OF THE CROSS | In the 16th C emerged a Christian thinker who went through tremendous suffering, loved every iota of life and was one of the greatest pioneers of the Christian spiritual journey the world has ever seen. You will enter into his life through a creative presentation, then journey into his 'seeing' with attentiveness to John’s unique drawing of the Cross. There will also be space to offer the dark caverns of self, our wounds, to the gentle space of Jesus’ healing living flame. And honouring John's love of Scripture, we will pray with John 14:23, a text that offers tremendous hope for a human life lived to the full.
7-9.30pm

It is a celebration of the presence of the divine in human existence and is utterly joyful. This text, not to be missed, will be explored on the retreat, for example, the compelling, dynamic image of the ‘flame’, John’s articulation of life experienced in all its fullness etc etc.
